Come And Get It & We Don't Want It Trophies
NSW Gliding has two trophies that are designed to add fun and challenge to cross country gliding as well as increase rivalry between clubs within NSW:
Come and Get It Trophy
Current Location: Bathurst Soaring Club
The following rules apply;
Pilots must fly into the location of the trophy and steal it. This may be at the club or one of its official camps at a different airfield.
Make every effort to re-light and fly back to the point of origin.
The trophy must be returned to and remain at the point of origin of that flight – if this is not practical (i.e. no gliding club at the site), the trophy may be held for safe keeping at the pilot’s club, but will remain on record as being at the point of origin of the flight – this allows members of inaccessible clubs to get the trophy while on camp but does not allow them to spirit it away to their inaccessible club!
The holding club will assist the visiting pilot, eg with overnight accommodation, securing the glider, providing a launch and posting the trophy (if applicable).
The procuring pilot will email the NSW trophies officer ( tom.kerrie@gmail.com) so the current location of the trophy can be published in the NSWG newsletter and on the NSWG website.
We Don't Want It Trophy
Current Location: Southern Riverina Gliding Club
The basic rules are:
You must launch from your home club, or a club camp.
Land at another club, or their club camp held at a different location, and deliver the trophy.
Make every effort to re-light fly back to your home club.
If successful heap friendly banter on the recipient club until such time as they get rid of it.
See the bottom of the trophy for more detail.
To encourage the trophies to keep moving, NSW Gliding will reimburse the cost of the aerotow for the return flight for the Come and Get It and We Don't Want It trophies.
